Das Album “Sounds Like INA GRM“ ist eine Hommage an die Institution INA GRM und einige ihrer großen Komponisten, die zum Teil die Grundlagen für moderne populäre elektronische Musik gelegt haben. Es ist eine Sammlung von elf Stücken, wobei jedes Stück dem Klang eines bestimmten Komponisten zugeordnet ist. In jedem der elf Stücke wurden jeweils ausschließlich die zehn Klänge verwendet, die einem bestimmten Komponisten in dem Sample Pack der INA GRM zugeordnet sind. Diese Samples wurden weitgehend in ihrer ursprünglichen Klangstruktur erhalten, um die Wiedererkennbarkeit des Ausgangsmaterials zu ermöglichen. Mit „Grown“ stellt Earth-Field sein erstes Album vor, für den Produzenten mit diesem Pseudonym ist es jedoch schon der achte Longplayer. Der Künstler sammelte 12 Monate lang Geräusche aus seinem Alltag, ganz gewöhnliche und ungewöhnliche Klänge ebenso wie außergewöhnliche Instrumente, die er in einen musikalischen Mixer gab, bis etwas ganz Neues herauskam: Ein Werk elektronischer Neo-Avantgarde, das zuweilen an Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, oder mit seiner Rhythmik an Steve Reich erinnert, – etwas zeitgemäßer, im besten Sinne gefälliger und auch für Freunde elektronischer Popmusik durchaus hörbar. Auf dem Album sind einige sehr spezielle Instrumente zu hören: ein Tennisschläger mit Saiten bespannt und einem Pick-Up, eine Saxonette oder ein Schlauch mit einem Klarinetten-Mundstück ausgestattet – allesamt von dem einzigartigen Musiker und Performance-Künstler M. Badde eingespielt. Außerdem zu hören sind: ein Tretboot, ein Lineal, ein Haushaltsgummi, Telefongeräusche, Drumsticks, ein kaputter Herd, eine chinesische Tischzitter, ein Waldteufel (Instrument) und ein Heizkessel. Zur Unterstützung des aufgenommenen Audiomaterials kamen nur wenig ergänzende digitale Instrumente, vor allem im Drum-Bereich und bei den Bass-Lines hinzu. Dabei herausgekommen ist eine abwechslungsreiche Mischung aus straighten und gebrochenen Beats und Stücke in den unterschiedlichsten Klangfarben. Vor allem rhythmisch sind die Takes sehr aufwendig strukturiert und abwechslungsreich gestaltet. Oder, wie ein befreundeter Kritiker schrieb: „Musik mit experimentellem ohrenfreundlichen Charakter, Klänge, die sich irgendwo im Bewusstsein einnisten, dort wo die Träume wohnen, und die dazu verleiten, sich wegtragen zu lassen, um irgendwo wieder aufzutauchen, mit dem Wunsch an den Ursprungsort zurückzukehren. Musik, die ganz ohne Pathos, aber nicht ohne Humor auskommt.“

The single “Heartbeats“ is the second single by the Cologne based artist Earth-Field. It features the two tracks “Heartbeats 1“ and “Heartbeats 2“. Both tracks are only based on digitally recorded audio material that later was digititally manipulated. Both tracks originate from the same kind of material. The audio was recorded when a pregnant woman was connected to a cardiotocograph. The sound recorded is the sound of the heartbeat of the unborn baby. You can also hear some surrounding noises, such as the doorbell, telephone ringing or door smashing. In both tracks no synthesizers, midi instruments, drum kits or such pre-existing instruments were used. It should be stressed, that both tracks try not to be simple sound collages, but experimental approaches to the genres House or Electronic comparable to the sound of groups like Matmos or producers like Matthew Herbert.

The single ''Tanzanite'' is the debut single by the Cologne based artist Earth-Field. It features the two tracks ''Tanzanite'' and ''Zeitgeist''. Both tracks are only based on digitally recorded audio material that later was digititally manipulated, but they have in common, that they try to disguise the origin of the material that was used. ''Tanzanite'' is based on audio recording of the a.o. noises, clicks, bugs and switch off signals by an electronic table organ from the seventies. The harmonic parts result from resampling of harmonised noises. The organ was not played in the common sense. ''Zeitgeist'' is only based on one recording of the spoken word ''Zeitgeist''. The recording was cut to split the phonems. This very reduced material results in a more experimental track. In both tracks no synthesizers, midi instruments, drum kits or such pre-existing instruments were used. It should be stressed, that both tracks are not off the hook sound collages, but experimental approaches to the genres House or Electronic comparable to groups like Matmos or producers like Matthew Herbert.
